Description
A Censored Nation
During the period of the dictatorship in Portugal, the country that was seen in the press, in books, in plays, in records, films, and in so many other forms of expression, was far from corresponding to the one in which we lived.
Everything went through censorship. In the historical memory of his performance, there are the blue lines that marked the excerpts, phrases or entire works whose publication was prohibited.
The blue pencil was, for 48 years, the instrument chosen by the censorship commission to target, restrict and eliminate any records that weakened the values of the Estado Novo.
